Pauline Wrighton

Working from my North Norfolk studio I use hand and machine stitch to create textile based artwork, using a variety of mixed media materials and techniques. Fabrics are created from raw fibres or re-cycled materials, others hand coloured and textured, de-constructed or altered. I work intuitively, influenced largely by my surroundings, organic natural forms being a favoured conceptual source. My pieces often develop spontaneously, dictated by colour and texture and  stitched with a trusty Bernina Record dating from 1971.

I hold a City and Guilds Diploma in stitched textiles and am a qualified teacher. I exhibit regularly in the Norfolk and Norwich Open Studios scheme and with the West Norfolk Artists Association. I am a founder member of mixed media collaborative 'Links and Layers'.
